In a couple of short months, the world has changed in unprecedented ways.
We have established a Student Relief Fund to provide immediate assistance to our students. The fund will help do things like repatriate Mac students studying abroad, provide food and shelter for vulnerable students, offer help to students who are caring for dependents and, provide emergency grants to students in need.
“For many students this is an anxious, stressful time,” says Sean Van Koughnett, associate vice-president of students and learning, and dean of students.
We have been fortunate that the McCall MacBain Foundation – an organization founded by McMaster alumna Marcy McCall MacBain and her husband John McCall MacBain – has pledged up to $100,000 to match donations to the Student Relief Fund.
McMaster is providing an additional match of up to $100,000 from University funds, so a gift to this fund will generate three times its value in support to McMaster students in need.
“We want to help as much as possible to provide financial relief so that they can focus on staying safe and healthy, and to enable them to succeed academically.”
